Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement

(These ethical guidelines were drafted by the Journal of Contemporary Applied Mathematics Editorial Team to reflect the journal’s internal policies and editorial practices, informed by widely accepted international ethical frameworks based on Elsevier recommendations and COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors)

Ethical guidelines for journal publication

The publication of an article in the Journal of Contemporary Applied Mathematics is a process of permanent knowledge improvement. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behaviour for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher and the society of society-owned or sponsored journals.

Journal of Contemporary Applied Mathematics takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing extremely seriously and we recognise our ethical and other responsibilities.

We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. In addition, Editorial Board will assist in communications with other journals and/or publishers where this is useful to editors.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting to the Journal of Contemporary Applied Mathematics must ensure that their work is original, accurate, and prepared with integrity. Manuscripts must:

• Present results honestly without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation.

• Acknowledge all sources and relevant prior work.

• Include proper citation of methods, data, and external materials.

• Avoid redundant or duplicate publication of the same dataset without transparent justification.

• Disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence interpretation of results.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts fairly, confidentially, and without bias. They should:

• Provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based feedback.

• Decline review if there is a conflict of interest or insufficient expertise.

• Maintain confidentiality of all materials received for review and not use unpublished information for personal advantage.

Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Editors must ensure a transparent and fair review process:

• Decisions must be based solely on academic merit and relevance to the journal’s scope.

• Editors must avoid handling manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists.

• Editors are responsible for investigating concerns regarding plagiarism, data manipulation, or unethical behavior, following COPE guidelines.
